MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) A six-year-old battling leukemia got quite the surprise Thursday morning on St. Paul's Episcopal's Campus in Mobile.
He and his family are headed to Disney World in the coming weeks.
The whole trip was organized by 'Magic Moments,' an Alabama based organization. It had the help of students at Springhill College, UMS-Wright Preparatory, McGill-Toolen and St. Pauls Episcopal. The students raised several thousands of dollars for Christian Leverett and his family to take the trip.
The reveal was not only a little overwhelming for Christian but his parents Christopher and Vanessa.
"I'm so overwhelmed. I just try to be here for him," said his mother.
Christian's father tells News 5 they're so thankful for the opportunity to head to Orlando. "This is so awesome. We'll really get a chance to enjoy this."
The students sold bracelets in order to fund the trip. "It was really great to see Christian and how excited he was to go to Disney World," said Ross Cummings, a 10th grade student at St Paul's.
"I just think it's amazing he came in here and he was surprised he got so emotional. I was tearing up," said another 10th grade student at St. Paul's, Barbara Horner.
For Christian and his family, the trip is a welcomed distraction from a tough battle with Leukemia. "This is a big reward for a big kid. He's got a big heart. He's fought a tough battle and he's continued to fight that battle but he's my hero. he's my hero through this whole process," said Christian's father, Christopher Leverett.
