PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - Softball is back in Panama City Beach! The opening ceremonies were held in Pier Park on Sunday, kicking off the 20th Annual USFA World Series.
Teamscome from all over the nation to partake in the World Series every summer for the chance to compete against some of the country's best talent, play in front of college scouts, and this year, hear from the face of softball herself.
Two-time Softball Olympian Jennie Finch made her fourth return to the World Series, speaking to the players before the opening parade.
"It's just great to be back and see so much excitement for the game and that these young girls have the opportunity to come in here and play on this big stage and have a blast with their families, and just enjoy this time with one another. I love it. These girls dream big, and I love seeing power through young women and encouraging them on their journey to whatever that may be."
The first week of the tournament is July 8-14. The second week is July 15-21.
