D.J. Hernandez, the brother of former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, was arrested Thursday after allegedly throwing a brick at ESPN's headquarters in Bristol, Conn., according to a Monday afternoon report from TMZ.
Aaron Hernandez, who died by suicide in April 2017, was convicted in ’15 of murdering 27-year-old Odin Lloyd in North Attleborough, Mass. on June 17, 2013. Hernandez's trial and its aftermath was covered closely by ESPN and other media outlets.
According to TMZ, after initially being turned away, Hernandez allegedly threw a brick in a plastic bag at ESPN's headquarters that also contained a note.
Bristol, Conn. police said the note read: "To all media outlets. It’s about time you all realeyes [sic] the affect [sic] media has on all family members. Since you’re a world wide [sic] leader maybe you could lead how media and messages are delivered brick by brick. Clean it up! Yours truly, Dennis J. Hernandez.”
After being contacted by police, Hernandez reportedly told officers he was present at ESPN's headquarters, and promised not to return after being charged with misdemeanor breach of peace. He will reportedly appear in court next month.
D.J. Hernandez played football for Connecticut from 2005 to ’08.
