The North Bay Haven Buccaneers are coming back home after losing on the road to FAMU-DRS in Tallahassee last week. They’ll be facing Wewahitchka out at Gavlak Stadium at Arnold High School – still looking for their first win of the season.
But despite that start, there’s still plenty of time for a playoff push, as nobody in our area has really pulled ahead in Class 4A.
The big thing the Bucs need to work on is redzone offense and taking care of the football. One small mistake can turn into seven points for the other team, and that was a big factor in last Friday’s loss.
Coach Andy Siegal is saying that his players are starting to press. They’re feeling the pressure of their 0-3 start and trying to tune out the outside noise.
They can take a lot of that pressure off this week with a win over the Gators.
Coach Siegal is doing what he can to communicate to his team that the season is still salvageable.
“I tell them every day, guys we just have to win one game a week,” Coach Siegal says, “This week it’s Wewahitchka. They’re going to come loaded for bear, and we have to equal and answer their call. But if we can get this game going, they know it. I just keep telling them don’t worry about it and don’t look at the scoreboard, just put your head down and keep working.”
The Buccaneers’ game against Wewa is slated for a 7:00 kickoff Friday night.
