Port St. Joe High School honors life of HOF coach

PORT ST. JOE, Fla. (WMBB)– Port St. Joe High School took time to honor the life of coach William Lane ahead of Friday night’s boys basketball game.

Lane, a member of Port St. Joe Athletics Hall of Fame, was the school’s first African American head coach.

He coached baseball and football but basketball was his primary sport.

He served as head coach for several years and was an assistant coach for the 1981 state championship team.
