CALHOUN COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB)– The Calhoun County School District has suspended all school athletic workouts until July 13.
According to a statement from Superintendent of Schools, Darryl Taylor, Jr., the district feels it is the safe thing to do at this time.
“With summer workouts taking place, even with our precautions, we just felt like it was an abundance of caution,” Taylor said. “Give it a little time and separation to see how things panned out and then go from there.”
The statement, released on Wednesday, also said there are no positive cases in the district.
The decision affects the Blountstown Tigers and the Altha Wildcats high school sports teams.
The school district will reassess the decision at the end of the week.
