Jimmy Ray Stephens Stepping Down as Walton Head Coach

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. - Just a number of hours into the new high school football season, there has been a coaching change.


Jimmy Ray Stephens told his team this afternoon he is stepping down as Head Coach to be the Offensive Line Coach under Steve Spurrier in the Alliance of American Football League in Orlando.


Stephens was an assistant coach for nine years under Spurrier at the University of Florida in the 90s.


Walton is promoting Bobby Moore to run the Braves football program. He was an assistant under Stephens for the last four seasons.
