Grand Slam Baseball Games are Underway in Bay County

BAY COUNTY, Fla. - The first Grand Slam Baseball games of the summer got underway on Monday, as over the next several weeks thousands of baseball and softball players and families will come to Bay County for both competition and vacation.

This is session one of four for baseball. There are 128 teams from 18 different states aged 8 to 14.

They’re playing at three different locations – most games are at Frank Brown Park, but there are also several at Bay and Bozeman High School.

Carl Stace drove his family 3 hours here from Columbus, Ohio for the second year.

"A lot of our tournaments back home are Friday, Saturday, Sunday - you're at a park all day, you go home, you come back the next day,” Stace says, “Here you've got the beach when you're done. You go relax, sit at the pool, or go to the beach because things are usually done pretty early. Back home tournaments run sometimes until 10:00 at night. It's nice and everyone gets a little relaxation, vacation, and you mix a little baseball in with it."

Session One will end Sunday, with Session Two beginning the following Monday.
