MARIANNA, Fla. – Florida State is looking at Chipola’s Jeff Johnson as one of the potential candidates to replace head baseball coach Mike Martin.
Johnson is one of the 27 coaches that applied for the job. He’s got some competition though.
Florida A&M’s head baseball coach Jamey Shouppes and Mike Martin’s son, Mike Martin Jr., are both in the running for the position too.
It’s a no brainer for the Seminoles to take a look at Johnson. He’s had so much success with the Indians. In his 22 years with the team, he’s had 13 conference titles and three national championships, two of which were back-to-back in 2017 and 2018.
“You know if something happens over there that they want to give me an opportunity to do that. I think we could do very well over there. I think it’s one of the top ten jobs in the country,” Johnson said.
Florida State said they would not name a new head coach until the season is over.
