ORLANDO, Fla. - The high school football season has officially come to a close.
The Blountstown Tigers were the final local team standing, but fell to the Madison County Cowboys in the 1A State Title game 35-20.
The Tigers came out strong, and scored two early touchdown courtesy of Jamal Howard and Trevor Peacock, and went into the half up 17-14.
However, two costly fumbles in the second half sealed the Tigers' fate.
Coach Greg Jordan wouldn't his team hang their heads.
"They have athletes at every position," Coach Jordan says, "They have more depth than we did. And it kind of toiled on us a little bit in the late third and fourth quarter, but our kids battled. I'm so proud of them. They played those guys as tough as anybody has all year long. And just hats off to them for the game that they played, but we're proud of our kids."
