Players, coaches, and cheerleaders were all invited back to Bay County last night to be recognized and to hash up some old memories for the 40th anniversary of the State Championship Title.

These former players and coaches to this day are the only team in Bay County to ever win a State Title in football.

The Assistant coach of the 1976 State Championship Squad, Don Deaton, said that to be able to bring up old memories last night was a great way to celebrate such a big accomplishment and the keys to being successful come from the two c’s of football, chemistry and coaching.

“There’s never been another one like it. The way the kids came together, the chemistry you might say and we had a good coaching staff. An offensive coaching staff, a defensive coaching staff and that makes a lot of the difference,” said Don Deaton, 1976 Assistant Coach for Bay’s Football team.
