PANAMA CITY, Fla. – The Bay High football team is looking to the community for help with equipment donations.
The Tornadoes, like other schools in the area, lost major football equipment in Hurricane Michael.
Lots of valuable equipment blew into what they call “Tornado Creek,” a small ditch by the football field.
Fleming’s Wrecker Service helped retrieve some of the items from the creek, but most were beyond repair.
Bay High School has opened up a shop on BSN Sports’s website listing all the equipment they need for this upcoming season. Anybody can buy those items right off the site and they go straight to the Tornadoes.
Bay head football coach Keith Bland said they are going to work around not having the equipment they need for spring practice next week.
“Sometimes you just kinda have to adlib and go with the flow. But a lot of football is that comradery, just hard work and lining them up,” Bland said. “Obviously, we won’t have that equipment on the field Friday night. If we can get out there with a football and helmets on and still coach ’em up, we’ll do the best that we can.”
