Several local organizations playing a key role in the Hurricane Michael recovery efforts received a generous donation from Verizon on Monday.
This past weekend Verizon held a food drive at five of their local stores. Monday, they gave the items to Feeding the Gulf Coast along with a $100,000 grant to help support their organization. Verizon also distributed a grant of $50,000 to the Salvation Army Panama City. The Community Foundation of Northwest Florida received $30,000 and Connecting Everyone with Second Chances received $10,000.
“Verizon committed to being part of the community long term to help them rebuild and recover and so today as we presented these food donations and grant donations, it’s really about helping support the long term recovery process,” said Verizon spokesperson Kate Jay.
Verizon collected hundreds of canned food and other nonperishable items at their stores this weekend thanks to the generosity of the community.
