A Georgia man drowned in the Gulf of Mexico off Panama City Beach Wednesday afternoon
The incident began at about 2:30 when the family of 61-year-old Rick Correll, became concerned that they had not seen him in about an hour.
Deputies responded to the scene and two entered the water. Correll was found floating face down about 200 yards out. Once brought to shore, CPR was performed. Corell was pronounced dead at the scene.
Double red flags warning swimmers to stay out of the water were flying Wednesday. First responders pulled multiple people out of rough surf along Panama City Beach for much of the day.
