Two People Dead in Jackson Co. Wreck

News

Two people are dead after a wreck in Jackson County.

Florida Highway Patrol said it happened around 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning on State Road(I-10) westbound at mile marker 130. They say the wreck involved four sedans and a tractor trailer.

Aerial Peifer, 24, and Johanna Ruiz, 33, died from injuries.

Florida Highway Patrol said a Nissan Altima lost control and hit a guard rail in median. The two people inside got out and several people pulled over to help. FHP said that’s when a tractor trailer hit the parked Nissan Altima which caused it to strike two of the cars who pulled over to help.

The tractor reportedly then struck the car of another person who pulled over to help. That’s when the tractor trailer jackknifed and the trailer separated from the tractor.

The trailer then fell from the bridge landing on the train tracks below.
