In Walton County a wreck kills two people and sends another to the hospital with serious injuries.

Reports say around 1:40 am Sunday, on I-10 near mile marker 86, a Ford Explorer traveled into the shoulder. The SUV then slid into an embankment and collided with a tree.

Both the driver and rear passenger died at the scene. The front right seat passenger was able to escape the vehicle before it caught fire.

He was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The names of the two who passed away have not yet been released but we are told all three passengers are from Colorado.

At this time authorities are investigating what caused the vehicle to swerve off the road.
