They are not yet old enough to vote, but these girls weren’t going to let that keep them from having an impact.
Girls Inc. held a voter registration drive at the Panama City Mall Wednesday to help those who are eligible to vote in November.
They also asked those who are already registered to sign a pledge to go to the polls. The program, “She Votes” was designed to teach girls the importance of voting.
“A lot of times we feel as though, you know, ‘I’m just one vote; my vote doesn’t count.’ But it does,” said Ashley Gray, the teen coordinator for the local chapter of Girls Inc. “It’s really important and so we’re teaching them way before they’re even able to vote how important it is.”
Girls Inc. was working to get 500 pledges.
