Panama City Beach, Fla. - Update: Two people drowned in the Gulf of Mexico off Panama City Beach Tuesday, according to the Bay County Sheriff's Office.
Officials said a 60-year-old man was pulled from the water near the 7000 block of Thomas Drive. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The drowning is under investigation.
Also, a Tennessee teenager drowned in the Gulf of Mexico Tuesday.
Tyler Spann, 15, of Lexington City, Tennessee was swimming in the Gulf near the 11000 block of Front Beach Road at about 1:30 p.m. when he became distressed, according to the Panama City Beach Police Department.
A short time later officers recovered Spann from the water and he was rushed to a local hospital, police wrote. Spann was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Yellow flags were flying at the time of the incident.
