Swimmer’s body found in Okaloosa County

A 911 call in reference to a distressed swimmer had a tragic ending Sunday when the man’s body
was discovered in the Gulf of Mexico during a search.
 
The call came in around 11:34 a.m. Sunday from a location near the Crab Trap restaurant on Scenic Highway 98. Someone had spotted a man struggling in the water a good distance from shore.
 
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office along with the fire department and U.S. Coast Guard helped in searching for the individual.
 
He was located approximately 40 minutes later. The man’s identity will be withheld pending notification of next of kin.
