Students Volunteer to be Fill-In Dads for Dad Day

PANAMA CITY Fla. - A day to celebrate fathers... "Dad's take your kid to school day" is Sep. 26, 2018. It's a statewide effort to encourage father's to take their children to school.

Many Bay County schools are participating. Some are having events like "donuts with dad", or even setting up selfie stations.

Bay High School's student government association (SGA) class is getting involved by pooling 40-50 guys to act as father figures to kids who may not have a dad. Tanner Reese, senior at Bay High School said, "It's very very humbling because I know that kids are watching me which makes me think of every action that I do, so if I do something good they say hey I want to do something good."

Students did not need to be a part of SGA to participate. Male role models from ROTC, to band, to school athletes, all volunteered. They were scattered throughout Bay County elementary schools Wednesday from 6:45-9:00 AM.
