Panama City Beach, Fla. - Wednesday Panama City Beach celebrated the topping out for a exciting, brand new hotel. The event at Springhill Suites included a property tour followed by a ceremony.
The Panhandle is known for the worlds most beautiful beaches.
"That's what everyone comes for the beach right," said Julian Macqueen.
Innisfree Hotels management company has several locations along the emerald coast. Company founder and hotel owner Julian Macqueen said the Panama City area has always been on his radar.
"Panama City has just always been the premiere destination on the emerald coast so i've been attracted to it ever since i was busting tables in Destin, Florida hoping to come over here some day and get into this market," said Macqueen.
The new Springhill Suites in Panama City Beach is expected to be one of the largest in the market.
"We've invested about 55 million dollars in this hotel, we have a couple hundred people here building the hotel, so that kind of money coming into the economy has an incredible impact just on the construction side," said Macqueen.
Once the hotel opens its doors, fifty to one hundred more jobs will be filled.
"We're actually five days ahead of schedule, so we're looking for an April 1st opening, if we don't slip we will hit that date for a substantial completion and open mid April," said Macqueen.
The hotel will include a beach front view, a lazy river, and 200 rooms.
"It will actually be the first Marriott product in Panama City and that's a big deal since they're the largest hotel company in the world," said Macqueen.
Beach visitors will soon have one more place to stay for a get away.
