If you live in Lynn Haven you may have noticed Sheffield Park is closed. Like many parks in the area, the city is making improvements after hurricane Michael.
Nearly every tree fell in the park during the storm and the sidewalks were damaged and cracked due to debris. Now 14 palm trees are popping up to bring shade back and help rejuvenate the park.
The city is also raising the center section where people sit for concerts in the park so it doesn’t take on water. They’re renovating bathroom facilities and adding a space for a concession stand during events.
“It is a new park but it did suffer a lot of damage from hurricane Michael and it really is the heart of the city here in Lynn Haven. Sharon Sheffield is a great contributor here in Lynn Haven, and we really wanted to make the park what it needed to be again,“ said Lynn Haven marketing and communications coordinator Kathryn Gay.
The park is set to reopen April 12th during the city’s first concert series.
