Santa Claus Makes an Appearance in Marianna

News

“Bright Lights and Christmas Delights” was this years theme for the annual Main Street Marianna Christmas Parade and Winterfest.

People filled the sidewalks Friday waiting for Santa to make his appearance. But while the kids waited for the big man in the red suit, they were picking out their favorite parts of the parade.

“When they had Elsa and them were snowing throw out the back,”  said 3rd Grader, Xavier Christian.

Anyone can be a part of the Marianna Christmas Parade. Some of those who grew up watching it from the sidewalks, got the opportunity to wave to the crowds this year.

“As a kid I always remember sitting on the side walk with my parents, waiting for people to throw out candy, and waiting for Santa Claus to come at the end,” said Miss Marianna, Maggie Larkin.

Local food and craft vendors set up tents for people to enjoy snacks during the parade and possibly get some Christmas shopping done.

Churches, schools, bands, and local business dressed up their cars, and floats bringing out the holiday spirit.

“Well even though it doesn’t feel like Christmas outside it’s really great to see everybody coming together and get in the Christmas spirit and decorate our town,” said Larkin.

The Marianna Christmas parade is a fundraiser that helps purchase fireworks for the towns independence day celebration, in July.
