South Walton residents might soon see a 25 room bed and breakfast sitting right along Highway 98. An attorney representing a neighboring establishment, asked the Walton County Commission to continue the discussion when all board members can be present.
This project, known as the Summerhouse Bed and Breakfast, was originally heard in June of 2016. It was denied in a tie vote but, that was overruled in court as an improper denial of the project.
Once again, Jenkins Engineering requested approval on the project.
Sydney Noyes, the Walton County Attorney advised the commissioners to wait before deciding the fate of the bed and breakfast, when Chairwoman Cecilia Jones is present.
“Given the fact that we only have four board members and Judge Lewis’ order, I do highly recommend that you guys consider continuing this until Commissioner Jones can be present. So, we will have a full board and it’s really just because of the unusual circumstance of Judge Lewis’ order, that I suggest that you do that,” said Sydney Noyes, Walton County Attorney.
With the County Attorney’s recommendation in mind, the Board tabled the Summerhouse Bed and Breakfast rehearing until October 5th, when all board members can be present.
