President Donald Trump has signed the disaster relief bill that includes money for our area after Hurricane Michael.

He tweeted a picture of himself and a message shortly after 1 p.m.

“Just signed Disaster Aid Bill to help Americans who have been hit by recent catastrophic storms,” Trump wrote. “So important for our GREAT American farmers and ranchers. Help for GA, FL, IA, NE, NC, and CA. Puerto Rico should love President Trump. Without me, they would have been shut out!”

Trump had opposed the bill because it included money for Puerto Rico. Democrats in the House passed it three times with relief money for the American territory included and refused to back down over the issue.

Along with money for the governments in the Panhandle, the bill also includes money that will be used to rebuild Tyndall Air Force Base.
