The Port St Joe City Attorney was arrested Saturday after he allegedly broke into an office and attacked a man, according to an arrest affidavit from the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office.
Clinton McCahill, 49, was at his apartment, which also doubles as an office building, Saturday night when he became upset with Keith Jones, the arrest affidavit states. During the altercation, Jones tried to “de-escalate” the situation by going to his office and closing the door.
He then filmed McCahill as McCahill stood outside the office. While outside the office McCahill said, “This is going down, me and Keith, tonight,” several times, according to the affidavit.
McCahill forced his way into Jones office and finally cornered him in a hallway as Jones again attempted to get away from McCahill, the affidavit states.
The two men then got into a physical altercation. McCahill was charged with a felony count of burglary and a misdemeanor count of battery.
The Port St. Joe City Commission is holding a special meeting Tuesday at Noon EST to discuss McCahill’s status.
