PANAMA CITY, Fla. - The Triumph Gulf Coast board approved a $10 million grant to help Port Panama City complete its $60 million dollar expansion project for the new East Terminal.
Back in March, the Port was selected as the first applicant to receive funding for their multi-million dollar expansion.
After considering several applicants, board members selected the port to receive a chunk of the 300-million dollars the triumph board is providing to eight counties.
"There's a lot of interest in receiving that money from a lot of agencies in that area, so we were very happy to be the first ones to be selected to receive grant monies," Port Panama City Executive Director, Wayne Stubbs, said.
The port's expansion is also anticipated to provide the community with more than 300 direct and indirect high paying jobs.
