Pedestrian Killed Attempting to Cross U.S. Highway 98 in Okaloosa County

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. - A Santa Rosa County man was hit and killed after attempting to cross U.S. Highway 98 in Okaloosa County.

The accident happened around midnight Sunday morning at the intersection of Wynn Haven Beach Road.

According to Florida Highway Patrol troopers, 46-year-old Troy Walter was trying to cross the road when he was hit by a man driving east on U.S. 98 in a Ford Explorer.

The front right corner of the Explorer struck Walter, which fatally injured him.
