Panama City, Fla. - A food service worker delivering meals at Bay Medical Sacred Heart is accused of molesting a patient at the hospital, according to an arrest affidavit from the Panama City Police Department.
Barry Keith Shaw, 51, entered the victim's room three times on August 10 and commented on the victim's legs.
He then touched her legs and molested her without her permission or consent, officers wrote.
They added that Shaw confessed to the crime and said he did it "because he was being a pervert."
Shaw is charged with sexual battery.
Bay Medical officials released a statement on the incident Thursday saying that Shaw was not a direct employee of the hospital and that he is now banned from their property.
“We are working with authorities to ensure a thorough and complete investigation of this situation. The individual involved is not our employee and worked for an independent contractor," said Bay Medical Spokeswoman Gabrielle Unbehaun. "He was immediately removed from the campus when the incident was reported to us and is no longer allowed on the property. We remain committed first and foremost to the care and safety of our patients and will continue to fully cooperate with authorities.”
