Panama City Man Charged in Church Crash

A Panama City man is now charged in the wreck that damaged a Panama City church. 

According to a police report, 41-year-old Tony Kyle ran a stop sign struck another vehicle and then crashed into North Bay Community Church on 17th Street. Kyle then drove away from the scene without rendering aid. 

Kyle called police shortly after and they met him Northside Drive and Airport Road and placed him under arrest for DUI. While under arrest Kyle agreed to speak to an investigator. Kyle told the investigator that he had been involved in a traffic crash when a car came out of nowhere and hit him. 

When asked if he had hit a building he said no. 

“I then asked him how did he get the bricks and drywall debris on his hood and he stated, ‘from the black car,'” officers wrote in the report. 

Kyle is charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving injury, DUI with damage to property and personal injury, leaving the scene of an accident with more than $50 in damage and giving false information at a crash.
