News

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a physical altercation that turned deadly. It happened just after midnight at a house off County Highway 183.

When law enforcement arrived on scene they found Cory Frank Graves, 38, who appeared to have been stabbed to death.  Joseph “Brandon” Mitchell, 30, of Ponce De Leon was quickly identified as a suspect after fleeing the scene.

had just seen Mitchell hours before. “He was over at my house earlier in the day. He visited with us for a little while. My grandson took him home- took him to his grandparent’s house and left him there. And that’s the last that we heard from him. I just can’t believe it because he’s never acted like that around me.”

After an hours-long search, Mitchell was arrested on Sept. 16, 2018. With him was Devon Delane Bray, 39. Mitchell is facing charges of second-degree murder, while Bray is facing charges for an outstanding violation of probation warrant.
