Okaloosa man charged with murder of his young son

Bill Eddins, State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit, announced today that the State will seek the death penalty for Frederick Rudolph Franken, Sr. on the charge of First Degree Premeditated Murder and/or First Degree Felony Murder.

Franken was indicted by the Okaloosa Grand Jury on April 8, 2019 for the stabbing death of his three year old son which occurred on March 15, 2019 in the Bluewater Bay area.

Franken is currently being held without bond in the Okaloosa County Jail. Assistant State Attorney Clifton Drake will be responsible for the prosecution
