A Panama City Police officer accused of failing to report the sexual abuse of a child is sentenced to pre-trial intervention.

Reports say police officer Kurn Lam, was made aware of an incident where a 7-year-old child was being sexually abused.

Lam failed to report the act to Florida’s Department of Children and Families which is required by law. Under the pre-trial intervention program Lam will be required to pay court costs and fines and perform community service. If he stays out of trouble for a year the charge is dropped.

Under the law, Lam could be a police officer again if he is cleared by Florida’s Criminal Justice Standards & Training Commission.
