Okaloosa County authorities have filed a murder charge against a Shalimar woman who they said built a brick wall in her closet to hide her husband’s body.

Sheriff’s investigators said Barbara Wozniak, 65, told her adult children she killed her husband Alfred in self-defense last Friday after he tried to choke her.

While serving a search warrant at her home, deputies said they found his body wrapped in a tarp and duct taped behind a fabricated brick wall inside a closet.

Investigators said Wozniak had recently purchased $130 in supplies, including a large tarp and 20 pounds of repair mortar.

Deputies served a second degree murder warrant to Wozniak late Friday night at the Okaloosa County Jail. She was already being held on a charge of tampering with evidence.
