OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla.- The State Attorney for the 1st Judicial circuit, Bill Eddins, has announced findings in an officer-involved shooting that involved an Okaloosa County deputy on March 10th.

The report said the officer-related shooting incident has been determined to be a justifiable use of deadly force.

Reports said Okaloosa County Deputy, Rex Thompson heard gunshots near Gulf Shores Drive in Destin.

Deputy Thompson discovered a person had been shot and saw a suspect and followed after him. The suspect was ordered to stop but refused. Reports said he then raised his weapon and it was at that time Deputy Thompson raised his weapon as well and fired two rounds. A nearby security guard also fired his weapon.

The report concludes that Thompson was in fear for their safety and/or the safety of others and the use of deadly force was justified.

No criminal charges will be filed against Thompson or the security guard who was also involved.
