A Panama City mental health organization gets prepared for an annual event.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness is gearing up for their tenth annual awareness walk. It will be this Saturday at Oaks by the Bay Park in Saint Andrews registration is at 9 a.m the walk begins at 10. The keynote speaker will be Sheriff Tommy Ford.
Virgil Duffell, Chairperson for the walk, says it’s important to dispel any myths about mental illness.
“So it’s all about helping the general public to understand,” Duffel said. “You don’t have to be insane at the moment in order to attend meetings or to you know make contributions in society.”
There is no cost to participate and there will be a free picnic lunch following the walk. Bring a blanket or chair to sit on during the program.
