FRANKLIN COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office took to the streets on Thursday morning to combat drug addiction and drug dealers, all with a goal to help better the community.
‘Operation Ice Breaker’ is the name of drug sting to get dealers off the street.
The sheriff allowed News13’s Kayla Tucker to ride along and see what deputies experience as they face danger and try to enforce the law.
The crew had nine individuals on their radar as deputies visited multiple homes.
After a few hours, the sheriff’s office took all suspects into custody, plus a few more.
Sheriff A.J. Smith says they do raids like this to not only get the dealers off the streets but to also ensure a healthy community.
He says if anyone in the area needs help with addiction, to visit the sheriff’s office.
Thirteen people were arrested in all. They are:
Robert New: possession of paraphernalia,
Gary Barineau: possession of paraphernalia
Benny Strops: violation of sex offender restrictions
Mark Williams: sale of methamphetamine
Revel Dean: sale of methamphetamine within 1,000 ft of a church
Josephine Givans: sale of methamphetamine
Christopher Buzbee: sale of methamphetamine within 1,000 ft of a church
Shelton Hutchins: Trafficking Methamphetamine
Kayla Osburn: sale of methamphetamine, also possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia
Christian Page: sale of methamphetamine within 1,000 ft of a church, possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia
Larry Cummings: sale of methamphetamine and cocaine
Kris Kelly: Sale of meth within 1,000 ft of a church
One juvenile was also arrested for sale of methamphetamine.
