Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies have charged one person after a child was shot Friday.
On Friday at about 8:30 p.m. the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a six-year-old boy shot at a residence on Townhouse Drive, officials wrote in a news release. The child was airlifted and transported to Sacred Heart where he is reported to be in critical condition.
“During the investigation, it was determined that a family member had accidentally fired the handgun,” officials wrote. “It was also found that child’s mother’s paramour, Jaquarius M. White, is a convicted felon and was charged with felon in possession of a firearm.”
The incident is still pending further investigation with other possible charges pending, officials added. More information will be released as the investigation progresses.
