Do not put your Mardi Gras beads away just yet. While Fat Tuesday may be over, Mexico Beach is continuing the celebration with their 18th Annual Gumbo Cook-Off this weekend.

The annual Mexico Beach Gumbo Cook-Off is this Saturday, February 20th at Sunset Park in Mexico Beach. The Cook-Off opens up to the public at 10 a.m.CST and goes until all of the gumbo is gone.

There will be 25 teams competing in two different categories, Gumbo and Brunswick Stew. The public can taste each team’s recipe for $1 and $4 will buy you a cup. There will also be live music, plus other food like hot dog and sausage dogs, and homemade desserts for sale as well.

All of the proceeds from the Gumbo Cook-Off will go towards Mexico Beach’s Best Blast on the Beach 4th of July firework show.
