A Niceville man was convicted of traveling to meet a minor for sexual favors and using a computer to solicit a minor for sexual conduct.

Darin Roger Paddie, 21, was arrested as part of an undercover sting operation conducted by Okaloosa Sheriff’s Office in October 2015.

Paddie thought he had contacted a 14 year-old boy after seeing a post on an internet site.

“Paddie told the boy that he wanted to teach him sexual things and explicitly described what he wanted to do,” officials wrote in a news release. “Paddie then traveled to two different locations in Destin to meet with the boy where he was ultimately arrested by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.”

Paddie will be designated as a sexual offender and faces 20 years in prison when he is sentenced. The sentencing is scheduled for August 16.
