Local Organization Helps High School Seniors Through College

A local group is doing their part to help high school seniors go off to college.

The Pilot Club of Panama City hosted their annual pancake festival Saturday morning.

The event took place at Applebee’s on in Panama City, featuring pancakes, sausage, coffee, and orange juice.

Those who attended also were able to buy sweet treats in part of a bake sale. The proceeds from the event benefit high school seniors who are part of Anchor Club.

This is the 9th year for the event and organizers say it continues to grow each year.

Sandy Ingram, Chair for the Pancake Festival said, the community is wonderful to come out and support it and so through this hurricane, we felt like it was especially important because the kids have had to miss out on so much this year in their senior year, so I’m thankful to the community for them to come out and support it.

The group will grant three students $1,000 dollars each.  Overall, they’ve given more than $25,000 dollars in scholarships.
