SPRINGFIELD, Fla. (WMBB) — One woman is dead after a shooting in Springfield on Friday night and the suspect is still at large.
Springfield Police say they responded to 515 Bob Little Road around 6:45 p.m. after reports of a woman suffering from gunshot wounds and not breathing.
Once they arrived on scene, Police Chief Barry Roberts says CPR was initiated but the woman was transported to a local hospital where she later passed away.
Barry says the victim is a black female around 30-years-old who was shot four times.
He says the victim’s eight-month-old child was with her just moments before the shots were fired but no one else was injured in the shooting.
Roberts says they have a person of interest but they are not releasing information about their identity at this time.
Through investigation, Roberts says this is a targeted incident and the suspect should not be a danger to the public.
However, he encourages anyone who sees someone or something suspicious, to call 911.
News 13 will release more information as it becomes available.
