Kelsey Peck joined the News 13 team as a general assignment reporter in June 2012. She was excited to land her first job at WMBB after graduating the University of Florida with a Bachelors of Science degree in Telecommunications.
At the University of Florida, she was a reporter and a Morning Edition anchor for NPR at WUFT-FM. She also reported and anchored for WUFT, the PBS affiliate in Gainesville. Kelsey was honored to have received the Kenneth Christiansen Award for Overall Excellence at both WUFT-TV and WUFT-FM on behalf of the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications. The Society of Professional Journalists rewarded her with a regional first place award in both TV Feature Reporting and TV Feature Photography. She was also a finalist in both the Florida Associated Press Broadcasters College Contest and the National Broadcasting Society’s contest for TV Feature Reporting.
Kelsey is a fourth-generation Floridian originally from Stuart, Florida. At the age of 10, she fell in love with her dad’s video camera from the 90’s igniting her passion for news and story-telling. She enjoys being the voice and the lens behind another person’s “story” whether it’s following somebody on an adventure or helping another fight city hall. If you have any story ideas, Kelsey would love to hear from you! Just send her an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
