MARIANNA, Fla. (WMBB) — More than 20 pounds of marijuana and a sizeable amount of cocaine is off the streets after the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force arrested multiple area men — one of which who has been on their radar for the last five years.

Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Darryl Hayes, Roy Porter, Ashley Smith, Marcus Daughtry, and Erik Gammons at a home on Mount Tabor Road on Tuesday.

Hailey McDonald, a Jackson County resident, said drugs busts in Marianna aren’t anything new.

“Honestly, I’m not that surprised,” McDonald said. “I’m just surprised they actually busted it honestly. I’m not surprised that it’s Marianna though.”

Investigator Ronnie Furniss said Gammons is a well-known drug dealer in the area and said the investigation started a couple of years ago when residents called with information on their crime stopper tip line.

“We’re not so naïve to believe that this was all of Gammons’ drugs,” Furniss said. “We believe that he’s got other houses in other locations throughout the county and possibly is some other counties where he may be storing his drugs and or money. Those individuals will have their day of reckoning as well.”

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office officials believe this investigation is not over and Gammons’ drug trafficking operation was part of something bigger.

“Well, essentially, Gammons likes to associate himself with a multitude of other large quantity dealers in the area and some of those dealers have been identified,” Furniss said. “We’re continuing to look into them as part of the investigation.”

Furniss says additional charges are being filed against Gammons but he bonded out before deputies could finish the paperwork.

Gammons’ bond was set at 115,000 dollars.
