Georgia officials have identified a boat passenger presumed dead from an accident this weekend as a Panama City man.
 
The Georgia Department of Natural resources said Kevin Husum, 23, jumped from a moving pontoon boat on Lake Lanier Saturday night. State officials are still searching the lake with sonar to recover his body.
 
Husum was throwing a football from his moving boat to another when he jumped off the pontoon, ended up underneath it, and was hit by a propeller, according to the CBS affiliate in Atlanta.
 
Police arrested the boat captain for being under the influence at the time of the accident.
 
Husum was a star athlete at Bay High School and Gulf Coast State College.
 
His family has been hit by tragedy in recent months. Husum’s father George who was a very successful restaurateur in Panama City died unexpectedly in December.

A local man was killed in a boating accident in Georgia, according to Atlanta television station CBS 46.

The station is reporting that Kevin Husum, 23, was throwing a football back and forth between two pontoon boats when he jumped out of the boat was struck by a propeller and killed.

Police arrested the man at the wheel of the boat for being under the influence, the station added.

The incident remains under investigation.
