For Bay County and surrounding areas, Spring Break is a vital time for tourism and the influx of revenue it brings.
News 13 spoke to local businesses and spring breakers on vacation to gauge their experience this holiday vacation.
Local businesses have had mixed success with some places like Pompano Joe’s being up over last year while others, like Hammerhead Fred’s are down.
Both have lost workers since Hurricane Michael but have since been able to almost fully re-staff.
Robert Hammer, of Hammerhead Fred’s is optimistic for the future of spring break, but says like most recovery, it will take time.
“With the recovery process, it just takes time. And we’re all thankful here to have our jobs. I know many of my staff are thankful that business here at the beach is slowly coming back.“
Regardless of any hurricane damage, spring breakers are not deterred from coming to the world’s most beautiful beaches to soak up the sun.
