An 83-year-old man traveled from Ontario, Canada to Jackson County in an attempt to lure a 9-year-old child away from his parents, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s office.
Arthur Williams, was seen multiple times near a home in Kynesville last week. Williams allegedly tried to lure the child into his car at least once, deputies said. And, for about week, Williams stalked the child over several days.
After spotting Williams on their property the child’s parents called 911 and deputies questioned Williams about his activities. They say that William’s answers about why he left Canada and what he was doing in Jackson County don’t make sense.
Investigators say they now believe Williams got the child’s address through an online chat where the child believed he was talking to another child.
Williams was arrested and charged with enticing a child under 12, trespassing, aggravated stalking and prowling.
