Investigation Continues: Two Dead in Suspicious Fire

Ponce De Leon, Fla. - In Ponce De Leon, authorities are investigating an overnight fatal house fire. It happened shortly after midnight, that's when firefighters got the call.

News 13's Peyton LoCicero reports from the scene on Highway 181.

Late Wednesday night, early Thursday morning, Walton County deputies were called out to a deadly fire at this home in Ponce De Leon.

"After midnight, we got the first 911 call and Walton County Sheriff's Office and Walton County Fire Rescue responded," said Corey Dobridnia, Walton County Sheriff's Public Information Officer.

When deputies and fire crews arrived on scene, the home was fully engulfed in flames.

"It took a couple of hours to get it under control and we located two bodies inside the house," explained Dobridnia, "So, right now, it is a waiting game to kind of see what happened and what conspired."
Investigators say they have reason to believe this incident is suspicious in nature.

"The amount of information we had before hand. The people involved. The way the scene was when we got here, all of those things and finding two bodies inside of a home, it's always going to be somewhat suspicious," shared Dobridnia.

The medical examiner and state's fire marshal are still investigating the scene.

The names of the victims have not yet been identified. The case remains under investigation.
