A local woman’s dream destination wedding was all set for tomorrow after nine months of planning. That is, until Hurricane Florence crashed the party.
Katelyn French and Matt Parsons met a little more than two years ago at a local gym. Matt proposed around New Years in the mountains of Colorado. Since then the Panama City couple planned a dream destination wedding in the mountains of North Carolina on Saturday.
For the past nine months Katelyn planned every detail of the day and paid all the vendors. But then came Hurricane Florence which forced her to cancel.
“It was my baby I had been cradling for the last nine months and I just had to throw the towel on it and let it go and I just didn’t know what I was going to do, I had no idea,” said Katelyn.
She reached out to her friends and family, one of them being April Crosby.
“She called me and was like Katelyn don’t worry about anything. I’m going to take care of your entire wedding and it’s going to be fabulous,” said Katelyn.
They then got to work turning the impossible into a reality. They set up her new venue in the backyard of her aunts house in Chipley.
“Having something that was created by pure love and selflessness of pure strangers, friends and family members there’s nothing that compares to that,” said Katelyn.
She found out her fairytale wedding was right in front of her.
“Sometimes something you think is the worst thing to happen and the most devastating, it actually a huge blessing,” said Katelyn.
