Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy center host ‘Walk in my Shoes’

(PANAMA CITY, Fla.) It was a beautiful day to take a walk Saturday, but not just any walk… a walk for a cause.

A little over 100 people met up at the Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center for ‘Walk in my Shoes’.

The event is an extension of both child abuse prevention month and sexual assault awareness month. It’s been taking place every year for 7 years.

The walk has come a long way, what started as just a dozen people walking has turned into a movement and organizers want you to know you’re not alone.

“This is something that is no longer shoved in the dark anymore this was always a shameful secret that a survivor or a victim had to carry and we want to shine the light in dark places and we want to let folks know that it’s safe to come forward and we will support them in any way so that they know they’re surrounded by people who believe them,” said Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Exec. Director, Lori Allen.

If you need any type of crisis intervention or want to speak with someone about your situation, you can call their local 24/7 hot line. That number is 1-866-218-4738.
